Only the Surface Ripples

This was for a lady who felt overwhelmed with problems and stressed by the events in the world. She wanted to live a life without problems to finally be happy. (And she loved dolphins.)

We often live life on just the surface of our senses and perceptions, rarely delving deeper to contemplate, meditate, or take the time to view things from objective or historical views. Life is so rich, so much more than the daily hustle and bustle. We won’t get carried away by the increasing pace of life and are also better prepared for it if every once in a while, we take the time to slow down, close our eyes and ears to pay attention and listen with our hearts.

Challenges and hardships are inevitable in life, so instead of making a habit of trying to ignore or pretending they don’t exist, if we focus on developing our ability to overcome them (before they grow or get out of control), they become smaller bumps in our journey.

And lastly, having an objective and historical view of our lives, our world with all of its problems seemingly racing towards the end, will allow us to see that the universe is far greater than all of this. Nations and civilizations rise and fall. People and planets are born, live, and die. The cycle of time and the universe remains unchanged. It makes me think of the “Pale Blue Dot” that Carl Sagan named our Earth regarding the photo that was taken by Voyager 1 back in 1990. How basically everyone and everything that’s happened, “… in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” EarthSky | Pale Blue Dot 33 years later: Earth in a sunbeam

There is something strangely peaceful about realizing how small we are sometimes.
